What is Tapestry?

Tapestry is a secure platform which builds a very special record of a child’s experiences, development and learning journey through their early years. Using photos, videos, and diary entries, early years educators, along with the child’s parents and carers, and the child themselves if they’re ready, ‘weaves’ the story of the child and how they are growing and developing. The Tapestry platform then works seamlessly to enable these memories to be kept as a permanent record of each child’s unique journey. All information held in the platform is stored securely and can be downloaded and shared as required. Parents and carers are able to view their child’s progress and see how much fun they’re having, whilst also uploading their own comments and media. We also use Tapestry to send home reminders, share news and updates or activities that parents and carers can do at home to support their child. Relatives can also access all of our policies and procedures, archived newsletters and our food menu through their Tapestry account.

How does Tapestry work?

The child’s key -person will use a digital tablet to capture significant moments in the child’s day through a photograph and/or video and then write a comment to explain what is happening.

How do relatives access Tapestry?

Firstly, we obtain consent on admission from the parent or carer to add their child’s details to our Tapestry account. Parents and carers then receive an activation link direct from Tapestry to set up their account. They can then view their child’s learning journal by signing into Tapestry with their email and password by using their browser or by downloading the Tapestry application. The communication between staff and relatives that Tapestry enables, helps build a shared understanding of how every child can reach their full potential.
